Zipper Noise® was founded in Jan 2018 by Dr Mark Bassett.
Mark is an experienced academic manager, lecturer, mastering engineer, researcher and qualified acoustician. He possesses international academic management and lecturing experience in Australian, UK, US and UAE Higher Education systems and has developed audio engineering / production curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for multiple schools throughout Australia and the United States. He has guest lectured at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Macquarie University (Sydney), Ex'pression College in San Francisco, and the SAE Institute in London.
Mark previously held the position of Head of Audio Engineering for the two largest audio schools in Australia, ran a successful acoustic consultancy business in Sydney, and for eight years worked alongside Rick O’Neil as a Mastering Engineer at Australia's largest mastering studio, Turtlerock Mastering.
Mark holds a PhD from the University of Sydney's Spatial Audio & Acoustics Lab, a Master's Degree in Design Science (Audio Design)(Honours) and a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching. His research on technical ear training has been published and presented internationally. He has written articles for Audio Technology Magazine and Sonic Scoop and is a member of the Education Committee of the Audio Engineering Society.
Mark is a Senior Lecturer at the SAE Institute Australia where he teaches several modules in Visual Programming as part of the Master of Creative Industries program and recently joined the University of Queensland's School of Music as an Adjunct Lecturer.
